Ball Grooving Router bits are from the family of CORE Box types bits. They may be used as Core box, plunging half way of the cutting diameter, or routing circular grooves.

These grooves are used for cables, wires, pipes, or any other round objects that are going to be inserted into the material routed. Cabinet makers utilize Ball Grooving Bits to hide computer cables and such, in an elegant way, so that the usually exposed wires are nicely tacked away.

The bits are also used to produce “Ball & Socket” Joints, when round rods may be inserted into the circular groove to enable pivoting.
